Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is an increasingly popular treatment for helping people with a wide range of mental health problems. CBT is based on scientific principles and uses the approach that the way people think affects the way that they feel and also therefore how they behave.

A CBT therapist will work with the patient to identify and change negative thoughts with the aim being to cause a positive change in feelings and behaviour. This is brought about by the identification and setting of personalized, time limited goals which are constantly monitored and evaluated.

The problems that CBT can typically be used to treat are: Phobias, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Depression, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Anxiety / Panic disorders.
